Community Cohesion

Community Cohesion

A new duty for schools to promote community cohesion has come into force.

This new duty was established by the Education and Inspections Act 2006. It came into force on 1 September 2007, and was an addition to schoolsí existing equality duties.

The Act also requires Ofsted to inspect and report on the contribution that schools make to community cohesion and this will happen from September 2008.

Community Cohesion is about communities working together to overcome common concerns and deliver common goals. It is also about building communities in which everyone feels they belong and where positive relations are formed within and across local communities.

How can we help?

We believe in positively promoting equality for all groups and celebrating the diversity that race, religion or belief, culture, gender, age, disability and sexual orientation bring to us all. We also believe in the importance of addressing inequalities faced by groups or individuals such as white working class boys, EAL students, those with SEN, Gypsies and Travellers, asylum seekers and refugees and students affected by illness, family illness or disability. We feel strongly that students should feel secure and respected and be empowered to work with their schools in developing the resources that will meet their needs. This is why we provide positive resources and approaches to cover all of these aspects.

We also need to work with organisations to meet the changing needs of their students/ customers to develop a resource bank to cover all equality and diversity needs. This is why we ask for your advice and feedback. At The Equality and Diversity we endeavour to either source or produce the resources you need. All of our own products are the direct result of customer requests.

I strictly recommend not to hold off until you earn big sum of money to buy different goods! You should just get the loans or credit loan and feel comfortable
